AGING

-
“Rita, an 11-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog, began coming to BandenHaus Holistic Pet Care for overnight and daycare in January of 2002. Since that time she has lost about 15 pounds on her new diet that Jere initially assisted me with.
"About 8 months ago, I thought age was starting to take its toll on her though, as she started dragging her right rear leg and was experiencing a lot of lower back pain. A trip to the vet confirmed arthritis in her knees and spine. Vicki and Rose, the alternative practitioners at BandenHaus, have literally worked miracles with her by applying a variety of energy-based modalities to her weekly visits/sessions. She is receiving a combination of massage, cranio-sacral, acupressure, and Reiki, and the end result is that she is now running across the yard, and up and down stairs as if she were a young girl again.
"Rita’s liver counts started to rise during this time as well, so Jere designed a new diet that would help to cleanse her liver and provide her with a better balance of nutrition for a dog her age, and Vicki and Rose assisted with alternative sessions.
"Three months later, Rita’s liver counts are totally normal. The vet just confirmed this week that Rita is in excellent health for a dog of her size and age. So thank you BandenHaus for helping Rita to be so healthy and happy!"

AGING

-
“I brought Bear, my 11-year-old German Shepherd, to BandenHaus Holistic Pet Care with the hope of finding overnight care that would accomodate Bear’s separation anxiety when I traveled. Little did we know how his life would change after his initial visit.
"Jere’s advice on diet and holistic approach to medications led to the arena of Reiki and massage therapy, all available at BandenHaus.
"Bear’s age-related condition of arthritis has improved greatly. Bear now has a 13-pound weight loss, an alertness not seen before and the most astounding indication of his weight management and massage therapy has been his ability to walk the complete perimeter of Lincoln Park. Previously I sometimes had to drive into the Park to pick him up because he could not walk. He is still very slow and cannot chase his ball but loves to interact with other dogs and just in general ‘hang out.’
"Bear loves to go for daycare and I feel very comfortable when I travel leaving him in Jere’s very capable hands. I feel strongly that BandenHaus has an aura of nurturing and love.”

INJURY

-
“Gracie was attacked by a dog nearly three times bigger than she in our own yard. I watched with horror as this dog had its mouth around Gracie’s neck.
"The following week, Gracie went to the groomer. The groomer reported the session was “difficult and challenging.” Gracie wouldn’t allow the groomer to touch her front feet, trim the hair around her neck and other parts of her body. The groomer suggested it might be best to send Gracie to a dog behavorist for training.
"Jere put it all together. She suggested that Gracie was most likely injured during that dog fight and could benefit from some massage sessions with Vicki and some healing sessions with Rose. We both believe in alternative healing and decided that because Gracie couldn’t tell us what hurt, that it was time to turn to specialists who could identify any problems and help our dog heal. More importantly, we decided it was best to get Gracie therapy now instead of allowing her injury to develop into something more serious and long-term.
"The sessions with Vicki and Rose turned out great. We appreciate their patience and care in working out Gracie’s ‘kinks.’ Their dedication and understanding to healing Gracie has meant so much to us.
"Jere at BandenHaus Holistic Pet Care offers more than daycare and a place for our dog to play: Jere provides us with helpful nutrition and total healthcare advice and we’re grateful she was able to help identify Gracie’s injuries and put us in touch with Vicki and Rose.”
