Inca Initiation: Advanced Training An in-depth exploration of the Inca Medicine Ways
Shamans in the Andes undergo a series of rites of passage as they develop their medicine body. Each level of the Andean Medicine Person holds a body of knowledge or set of skills which are the cornerstones for mastering reality and the dream body. This will be a three-meeting training to explore in-depth the myths, practices, and tools of the Medicine People.
First Class: September 25-27, 2009
The first meeting will explore the range of practice of the Hampe, the healer, and their mastering of elemental energies in nature, clearing and awakening of their luminous body, and their connection to all the levels of the pachamama. The Hampe, is considered the steward of the land, who is in synchronous relationship with earth cycles and understands the Illas or reproductive principles of all forms of life.
Second Class: April 9-11, 2010
The second level of the medicine person talks to the spirits of the Achachillas or Apus, the ancient ones that reside on mountains. They are the stewards of their lineage and are able to summon the spirit and voice of the mountain spirits in ceremony. They have mastered the four elements and are able to intercede in behalf of the Ayllu for meteorological changes. The Apu and the Lightning spirit allow them to become seers for they have mastered fear, stepped beyond death in rites of renewal and rebirth.
Third Class: September 24-26, 2010
The third meeting will focus on the practices of the highest level of Inca Shamanism that has been shared with me, where the practices of timelessness and stillness are essential to summon one's destiny. They dwell in multiple realities as he has mastered his dream body that is his umbilical cord across all realities. Known as the one who chews the knowledge of the sacred to then feed his people. We will learn through play and ceremony the ancient ways to understand our multiple universes and taste at least a bit of our own luminous nature and becoming.
Fourth Class: TBA
There will be an optional fourth meeting, topic to be discussed with the group.
Advanced Inca Medicine program participants must have completed the introductory training and be full mesa carriers.
You must also be willing to make a commitment to all three meetings in sequence.
Instructor Denise A. Kinch
Denise Kinch began her healing work at a very young age by working with animals and became aware of the importance of the animal-human-nature bond in healing. Denise incorporates many areas of holistic healing in her work and has extensively studied both conventional and alternative medicines. She shares her knowledge throughout Europe, North America and South America, and has written an article, Truth is Beauty, the Q'ero, and will be publishing a book based on her extensive work with Q'ero shamans in Peru in Fall 2009. Her practice is based in Groveland, Mass. at the Pachamama Healing Center, which she began as a community healing center for people and animals.
Denise’s qualifications include: Reiki Master in the Usui Shiki Ryoho method, Practitioner and Teacher of Andean Medicine healing traditions, Animal Communicator and Healer, Certified in Shamanic Soul Retrieval, Certified in Crystal Healing, Certified in Karma Release.
Denise has been welcomed into the Andean Healing Traditions and initiated with the highest rites of passage from Don Manuel Quispe and Don Martin Pinedo. She was present with Don Manuel Quispe in his home in Chuachua at the time of his death when he gave her his final, personal and highest rites and his personal Q'ero ceremonial poncho to carry on his traditions.
Denise still continues to work closely with Don Martin Pinedo and his wife Maria. In 2005 Don Martin gifted Denise with his Andean Condor, which he has worked with for over 20 years, because of her dedication and embodiment of the Andean tradition.
Denise is the Founder and President of Vanishing Cultures Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization that assists the indigenous people of Peru. Her work with the Foundation includes leading the annual Mountain Medical Team to the villages high in the Andes of Peru to work with the people and their herds of llama and alpaca, traveling to the high Q'ero villages 13 times.
The non-profit group's approach is practical. Its aim, said Kinch, is to aid without interfering, assist without interrupting, so as not to tarnish their ancient customs, but learn their rich spiritual practices so they may endure. (From Exeter News-Letter, March 2003)
Denise also leads annual journeys with young people and adults to the sacred sites of the Inca in Peru to work with the local Medicine people.

Mosswood Hollow Retreat Center is located about an hour’s drive from Seattle in the foothills of the Cascades. The view from each bedroom, located on the second and third floors, is lovely. All bedrooms are decorated beautifully and are warm and welcoming. Evening meals are candelit and are served restaurant style in a large, gorgeous dining hall with so many windows the view is almost panoramic.
The food is healthy, mostly organic, plentiful, and gourmet-quality. Meals are included in the cost of the training, beginning with lunch on Friday through lunch on Sunday, as there are no places nearby that could be reached between class times (this is the country, folks!). They do not serve alcoholic beverages, but you are welcome to bring your own, there is a wine refrigerator available.
Class will be held in the private 30’ yurt nestled an easy walk from the Lodge across a little bridge. Yurt has a central glass dome which lets in natural light or a view of the stars at night.
